*George Forman voice* I was tagged!
Jamie over at 10 Signs has invited me to do one of those meme things, and I'm happy to jump in on this one. It's a music theme and she's got some good taste in that dept. But what's 'meme' stand for anyway? something having to do with theme?

The last CD I bought was:
Billie Holiday--The Ultimate Collection. I also bought a new biography of her in the same Amazon order. I'm on a big Billie binge.

Song playing right now:
Halllelujah by Jeff Buckley. Soooo beautiful. I'd be tempted to cheat here if the song on was a dud, but, it's not. :-)

Five songs I listen to a lot, or that mean a lot to me:
Oy, where to start...
1. "Sideways" by Citizen Cope--he could take up 4 of these;
2. "To Zion" by Lauryn Hill--I can't sing this song without crying;
3ish. "Luka" by Suzanne Vega and the version by the Lemonheads--I can't sing this one either without crying; is it cheating to put down both?
4 or thereabouts. "Heaven Right Here" by Jeb Loy Nichols
Along the lines of 5. "Dancing Barefoot" and "Gloria" by Patti Smith--oops, I think I cheated right there;
yes, 6. "4th of July" by X--I know, I'm cheating...

Five people to whom I’m passing the baton:
Ian!
Ron! altho he says he's not too into music...
Wedge!
Dyna Girl!
Johnny the Horse!

No cheating, you hear!

Inventor em

What we need is a “sport” audio device that isn’t dependent on earphones/plugs. I sometimes run in sketchy neighborhoods and in areas with high automobile traffic, so hearing all the ambient sound is important from a safety standpoint. I’m no inventor (hang on, I did invent the iPop, forgot about that), but I think something new and innovative could be engineered.

It has to attach somewhere to the body so the hands are free—you don’t want to run along carrying a boombox, for crying out loud. It can’t jounce around either—that could lead to chafing and bruising, and the changing of radio stations. It probably should be situated up near the head, so you don’t have to crank the volume up, thus defeating the purpose of the thing. Maybe it could be a sort of necklace gadget—up near the ears, not a lot of harm in a bit of jouncing, especially if it’s made of soft materials. And it must be stylish of course.

There’s my idea. Any entrepreneurial types can feel free take it and run with it. As it were.
